New UK Drug Strategy

Date: 10/12/2010

The UK Home Office released its new Drug Strategy on Wednesday 8th December.  It centres around three broad areas, reducing demand, restricting supply and building recovery in communities.

It claims that hitherto, expenditure has been focussed on process targets not outcomes, and that treatement success has been eroded by the failure to gain stable housing and employment for individuals.

Those working in the offender employment and rehabilitation fields will find pages 12 and 13 of the document to be of particular relevance as there it sets out proposals for offenders with drug misuse issues.
