Breaking the Cycle: Government Response

After 12 weeks of consultation and receiving over 1200 responses, the Ministry of Justice has published the Breaking the Cycle response today.
Some key initiatives arising from the paper:
• The Prisoners’ Earnings Act will be implemented to make deductions from prisoners’ wages to provide services for victims
• The response contains information about which types of offender will be excluded from the payment by results system as it has been decided it is not an appropriate method for all offenders
• The Department of Health and the Home Office will pilot and roll out liaison and diversion services nationally by 2014 for mentally ill offenders.
